Here is one of my finest Higgs type 1680 doll so far, I think!
She is 20" head to the toes of her silk slippers. The head piece, now the second one I have made for her is an additional 3" so she is quite a size. Her clothes are all handmade of antique 18th century silk and cottons. There are wonderful small bits of blind mending from a century ago on her stripe overskirt (I love that). She is fully jointed at the knees and hips and hand carved from basswood. Her eyes are 3 tone brown, just as the William Higgs dolls from 300+ years ago.
She truly looks old and impressive, much more so in person than in my photos.
Scroll down to yesterday's entry on my blog to see some other photos of her corset and photos in the making of Lydia.
I took photos of her from start to finish and if you would like more photos to see her corset or underclothes just email me toysintheattic@sympatico.ca
Lydia is looking for a good home and is available to purchase for $1850.00
If you have a big chair for her in your collection and would like to purchase Lydia for your collection just let me know.
